A year ago, I attended the ARC BITA annual conference at QUT as a new PhD student, fairly clueless about what to expect, and left in awe of the complexity, quality, and disciplinary range of the work in the ARC BITA community. This year, I had the opportunity to return and present an overview of my PhD. My research spans design and psychology, using a Social Identity approach to investigate co-design in health research—specifically how methods shape the dynamics of participation, and how the social processes behind collaboration and creativity can be made more explicit and easier to work with in practice. I’m grateful to my supervisors, Dr Tarli Young and Alex Haslam, and to ARC BITA, Stephen Whyte, and Jen Petley for the ongoing support. See you again next year!
